Birmingham names six firms for adults and childrens services legal work

Birmingham City Council
 has appointed six law firms to a legal services framework agreement for its adults and children's services division.

The framework incorporates panels for adults, children’s services, judicial review, residence, guardianship and adoption. It began in June and will run for a two-year period.

The successful firms were:

  • Blair Allison: children’s services; residence; guardianship; adoption.
  • Browne Jacobson: adults; judicial reviews.
  • Challinors: children’s services; residence; guardianship; adoption.
  • Evans Derry: children’s services; residence; guardianship; adoption.
  • Freeth Cartwright: adults; judicial reviews.
  • Tyndallwoods: children’s services; residence; guardianship; adoption.

The award criteria were described as the most economically advantageous tender in terms of:

  • Risk management - pass / fail. Weighting 80.
  • Audited quality systems - pass / fail. Weighting 20.
  • References and case study. Weighting 40.
  • Resource and expertise. Weighting 40.
  • Added value / innovation. Weighting 20.
