Council and ex-head of property settle High Court damages claim

Corby Borough Council and its former head of property have reached an out-of-court settlement following mediation.

According to a report on the BBC, Steven Redfern alleged he had been “bullied” after raising concerns about land deals in August 2011. He was signed off work in 2012.

Redfern brought a High Court claim for damages against Corby, but the council denied all his claims.

In a joint statement issued this week the two sides said: “Steven Redfern and Corby Borough Council are pleased to confirm that following mediation, Steven Redfern, Head of Service: CB Property, is leaving the Council on mutually agreeable terms.

“Corby Borough Council wish Mr Redfern well in the future.”

The parties added that no further statement would be made by or on behalf of either party in relation to Redfern’s claims or any other matter relating to his employment.
