Bevan Brittan boosts property and social housing practice with Shaw hire

Bevan Brittan has bolstered its property and social housing practice with the hire of Andrew Shaw as a partner in its London office.

Shaw, who joins the firm from TLT Solicitors, advises a wide range of registered providers, local authorities and other organisations.

Mark Calverley, head of property at Bevan Brittan, said: “Our property practice is growing as client demand for our services increases, both for advice on transactions and other property related issues. Andrew will bring increased capacity and sector experience for our housing team and their clients.”

Jonathan Turner, the firm’s head of housing, added: “The housing sector is facing a number of challenges with changes to Right to Buy and welfare reform looming. The impact of these policy changes on registered provider development programmes could be significant at a time when there is growing pressure on housing stock numbers.

“Organisations need to ensure that they are structuring their portfolios effectively and, where appropriate, maximising development delivery through exploring new cross-sector partnership models between registered providers, local authorities and health trusts. Andrew will be an important addition to our team.”

Shaw said he was "very pleased" to be joining Bevan Brittan. "They have a strong profile in the social housing and public sectors in particular, which fits well with my own specialisms," he added.
