Philip Kolvin QC named head of Cornerstone Barristers

Philip Kolvin QC, a licensing expert and regular contributor to Local Government Lawyer, has been named as the new head of Cornerstone Barristers.

He takes over from Mary Cook and James Findlay QC, who have been in charge for three years.

Kolvin practises in licensing, regulation, planning and local government. He is a patron and former chairman of the Institute of Licensing and editor of numerous publications on licensing matters.

He has recently been acting for Sheffield City Council at the Hillsborough inquests in Warrington.

“Cornerstone’s decision to appoint a licensing practitioner as head of chambers reflects the diversity of expertise within our organisation, across the whole spectrum of planning, property, public and regulatory law,” he said.
