Art Group of Law Society of England and Wales to hold annual exhibition until 21 March

The Law Society’s Art Group, which has been running for more than 60 years, is holding its annual exhibition virtually until 21 March.

More than 30 solicitors are exhibiting over 100 works. You can access the exhibition in three ways:

  1. The Law Society website, which has a carousel of the pictures supplied and can be accessed by clicking here. (note:  if you click on many images you may need to refresh the page to be able to scroll from the start #1 to the end #113)
  2. An e-version of the catalogue giving details of the work, the artist, and the price. To access this electronic catalogue, please click here.
  3. A new FaceBook page with details of the virtual exhibition, the e-catalogue, all the pictures provided, and the artists' details and price.  If you are on FB you can click here.

Professor Anita Taylor, Dean of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design at the University of Dundee was the judge at the Art Group's on-line private view (with 81 participants).

Maria Memoli, who has held a range of senior roles over the course of her career in local government, is the Art Group’s Exhibition Secretary.

She said: “The Group was set up all those years ago to show that solicitors weren't all that stuffy, and are approachable and sociable. The majority of the members are retired solicitors, but there are still a few of us that are still practising. Anyone can join that has a connection to the law, or a close family member.”

Memoli, one of whose pictures was 'highly commended', added: “There is life outside of law.....it's just finding what makes you happy, and just living for the now. That’s important; even more so now during lockdown."
