Public law children specialists join Coram Chambers

Coram Chambers has welcomed two new tenants, Yasmeen Jamil and Judith Pepper, with extensive experience of public law children proceedings.

The set said Jamil is “an experienced public law children’s practitioner covering the broad spectrum of work in care proceedings. She has also been involved in a number of cases concerning the death of a child, factitious illness and forced marriage.”

She regularly acts for local authorities, parents, grandparents and interveners.

Pepper meanwhile specialises in primarily public law proceedings representing local authorities, parents and guardians, competent children, as well as other family members and intervenors.

“She is often instructed in complex care proceedings involving non-accidental injury and medical evidence, sexual abuse allegations, serious domestic violence, and placement outside the jurisdiction. She also undertakes cases involving vulnerable adults and forced marriage,” Coram said.

Pepper also has extensive experience in all areas of private law family work, particularly those involving serious allegations of harm.
