Up to £65,000 depending on experience

“The Regulatory Department is very diverse, offering a broad range of expert advice to organisations and healthcare professionals facing disciplinary action, criminal allegations and professional regulatory sanctions, as well as DPA requests and inquests.  This is a unique opportunity to join our top-ranked team of medical defence lawyers providing a national service to healthcare professionals.

The role will primarily focus on assisting the Medical Defence Team with the management matters relating to doctors and dentists on behalf of their medical defence organisation, and private clients.  With our diverse offering, inevitably there will both the scope and need for our lawyers to be involved in work for clients outside of their core caseload.

Main duties and responsibilities
  • Assist colleagues to manage a case load of files
  • Corresponding with other parties and following up communications
  • Attending hearings to take notes (both remote and in-person hearings)
  • Assisting with drafting instructions to counsel and experts
  • Preparing bundles of documents on behalf of clients for Court or Tribunal hearings
  • Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
  • Ensure relevant deadlines, quality measures and KPIs are adhered to
  • Comply with relevant policies and procedures
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values
