£53,653 - £58,089 per annum

Swansea Council is seeking to recruit a Data Protection Officer who will work with the Council and its schools to ensure they fulfil their obligations under Data Protection legislation.

The post holder will be required to:

  1. Provide strategic and technical advice to the Council on all matters relating to data protection, data security, and information management and to help ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  2. Provide advice, training and support to all of the Council's schools on data protection and information requests.
  3. Be the Single Point of Contact for the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and any other relevant regulator.
  4. Lead the Information Governance Unit including a records management function.
  5. To lead on other regulatory compliance issues, for example RIPA, CCTV usage.
  6. Provide advice, support and training on FOI and SAR to the Council and it officers.

Safeguarding

Within Swansea Council there is a "Safeguarding is Everybody's Business" principle, and this applies to all Swansea Council employees, elected members, volunteers and contractors.
