Representation of the People Bill - Sharpe Pritchard
The Representation of the People Bill was introduced in Parliament in February 2026. It contains the most significant changes to the electoral law regime in a generation.
On Friday 13 March, join Emyr Thomas and James Goldthorpe as they provide an overview of the key changes within the Bill, including –
- extending the franchise to 16 and 17-year-olds across the UK in all elections,
- expanding the list of voter IDs allowed at polling stations,
- improving voter registration,
- introducing tougher rules to prevent foreign and illegal money from influencing British elections,
- measures to protect political candidates, campaigners and staff who face abuse, and
- new powers for the Electoral Commission.
