Council nets order banning visits to student house after complaints about parties

Bournemouth Borough Council has secured an enforcement order banning anyone from visiting a house occupied by students who have been the subject of noise nuisance complaints over loud parties.

It has barred visitors for the week leading up a court hearing due on 16 June.

Kelly Ansell, the council’s head of housing and community enforcement, said: “The housing and community enforcement team are responsible for responding to domestic noise disturbances and anti social behaviour. We work very successfully alongside numerous agencies, including both local universities, to try to deal with these issues fairly and quickly.

“Often through communication and engagement with occupants the matter is dealt with without the need for formal action through the court.

“However, on this occasion all previous attempts to resolve the issues presented by this property have failed. This has left us with no choice but to pursue court proceedings.”

The students concerned are understood to attend Arts University Bournemouth, a separate institution from Bournemouth University.
