North East headquartered education group names four firms to legal advice panels

Education and training group NCG Corporation has named four law firms to a legal services framework.

The lots and the firms appointed are as follows:

Lot 1 – Property, Estates and Construction (including Health and Safety): DWF; Eversheds; Ward Hadaway;

Lot 2 – Employment and Pensions: Ward Hadaway; Muckle; Eversheds;

Lot 3 – Governance and Student Affairs (including FOI and Data Protection): Eversheds; Muckle; DWF;

Lot 4 – Commercial and Corporate (including Special Projects): Muckle; Eversheds; Ward Hadaway.

The contract was awarded on the basis of the most economically advantageous tender in terms of:

1. Quality of service delivery: weighting 20.

2. Proposed team sector knowledge and experience: weighting 40.

3. Value for money: weighting 5.

4. Charges: weighting 35.

The initial appointment is for 12 months with three further 12 month optional extensions, making a total possible contract length of 48 months.

NCG’s operations include three Further Education colleges, a provider of training and employment-related services (Intraining), and a UK-wide youth charity which helps young people between 14 and 24 back into education, employment or training (Rathbone Training).

It also runs Newcastle Sixth Form College, which meets the needs of more than 1,000 A Level, and is sponsoring a £9m new Discovery School in Newcastle, a 14-19 free school specialising in engineering underpinned by science, technology and maths.
