University kicks off tender for £125k legal services contract

York St John University is to award a four-year contract worth up to £125,000 to a provider of independent legal advice.

The university said the tender exercise would “identify a suitable firm with experience in higher education, able to provide independent legal advice to the Governing Body, as and when required”.

The scope of the contract will be independent legal advice primarily with regard to employment law; other categories of advice which may be required from time to time are:

  • charity law;
  • commercial agreements;
  • corporate and governance legal issues;
  • property law;
  • banking and financial services law;
  • environmental law;
  • tax and insurance law and pensions legal issues;
  • IP & IT law.

The contract will start on 1 July 2016 and run until 31 July 2020.

The deadline for completed tender questionnaire submissions is Tuesday 31 May at 10am.
