Exeter University to set up legal services panel worth up to £4m

The University of Exeter is to appoint a panel of legal services providers to a contract worth up to £4m over four years.

The contract/framework will be divided into four lots:

  • Lot 1: Property and Estates
  • Lot 2: Employment and Higher Education
  • Lot 3: Commercial/Contractual and Intellectual Property
  • Lot 4: Patent Services.

The university said that for lots 1-3, it intends to appoint two panel firms to whom work will be allocated at the discretion of its Legal Services team. For lot 4, the intention is to appoint four panel firms, again, to whom work will be allocated at Legal Services’ discretion.

The university added that for higher value work it might seek quotations from all firms on the panel for a particular ‘Lot’ to ensure best value.

The estimated value is between £1m and £4m. The legal and patents budget per year is around £250,000 but with the potential scope for larger projects.

The contract will start on 1 December 2016 and end on 30 November 2020.

The procurement by Exeter is just the latest in a series in the higher education sector. Find out more here.
