Development corporation appoints law firm for land acquisition and CPOs

Law firm firm Gowling WLG has been appointed to provide the South Tees Development Corporation (STDC) with general legal services connected with land acquisition and in preparing for and executing compulsory purchase orders.

The STDC was launched in August 2017, tasked with delivering the South Tees Regeneration Programme.

Prior to its launch, the South Tees Site Company, acting on behalf of STDC, was involved in early land assembly negotiations with major landowners.

The legal services to be provided are:

• Task 1: Supporting complex land assembly negotiations in respect of the SSI-IL landholdings and providing general legal advice on land and property matters
• Task 2: Preparing for and executing CPOs concerning one or more land interests within the STDC boundary.

The contract was awarded following a further competition against CCS RM3786 General Legal Advice Services Tier 1.

The contract, which is worth an estimated £150,000, is to run from 13 September 2017 to 12 September 2018.

There is also an option to extend this contract for a further 12 months until 12 September 2019. This optional extension is valued at £200,000.00.
