University to hold pre-tender exercise as legal services arrangements end

Leeds Beckett University is to hold a pre-tender exercise as it considers how to replace its current arrangements for the provision of legal services.

The university said it needed high-quality legal advice on a wide range of matters including commercial contracts, litigation, intellectual property matters, data protection and employment law.

At present this is handled through a framework of three legal firms, supported by some expertise provided “in-house”, which is managed centrally through its University Secretary’s Office.

The university said: “As the current arrangement concludes, we wish to review our options for the future provision of legal advice. A tender exercise will be conducted with a view to having new arrangements in place early in the academic year 2018/19.

“In the meantime, we want to consider the range of options available to us and are seeking your perspective and input as a potential future partner, to help us shape our approach, prior to us issuing a formal tender.”

The pre-tender day is expected to be held on 11 June 2018.
