Centre for Governance and Scrutiny appoints new chief executive

Andy Fry has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Centre for Governance and Scrutiny (CfGS).

Fry is a former Chief Executive of Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, a local authority Corporate Director and director of a consultancy business.

He will take over from Jacqui McKinlay who has joined Liverpool City Council as its chief operating officer.

Lord Kerslake, chair of CfGS, said: “I am delighted that Andy will be joining us – we set a high bar in this recruitment, wanting to appoint someone with a unique skills set of governance expertise, entrepreneurial skills  and a breadth of knowledge from a wide range of sectors and he has all of these. Andy brings an excellent track record of working with senior leaders to improve outcomes, he knows what good governance looks like and how to deliver it.

“We know that Governance in all sectors needs to change to reflect the significant transformation of the last few years and CfGS needs to lead this debate. I am confident that Andy, with the brilliant team, associates and partners, will successfully lead CfGS to become an even greater force and champion for governance and scrutiny.”
