Anthony Collins hires construction and commercial lawyers as partners

Law firm Anthony Collins Solicitors (ACS) has appointed specialists in construction and commercial law as partners in its Birmingham office.

Paul Slinger joins the firm as partner in the construction team, while Steven Brunning joins as partner in the governance and commercial team.

In his previous role as legal and commercial director at technology company Inzpire Limited, Brunning advised on strategic corporate matters at board level. “With an extensive commercial skillset, he brings 14 years’ experience in public sector contracting and the implementation of innovative technology solutions.”

At ACS he will advise clients on technology, outsourcing, procurement strategy and design, as well as supporting clients through contract negotiations, management and subsidy control.

Slinger, a specialist in dispute resolution in the construction and engineering sector and formerly a partner at Wright Hassall LLP, has been recruited to help lead ACS’s construction disputes team.

He brings more than 20 years’ legal experience to the firm, “with expertise in assisting clients to deliver construction and engineering projects on time and within budget, as well as bringing and defending professional negligence claims relating to construction and engineering operations,” ACS said.

Slinger has advised NHS Trusts on disputes relating to major new-build and enhancement programmes, advised on a major multi-billion energy infrastructure project, advised mental health care providers and a major sports stadium in relation to defective works and provided advice on the operation of complex PFI contracts.

Peter Hubbard, senior partner at Anthony Collins Solicitors, said: “Steven and Paul's combined expertise will be pivotal in how ACS continues to support clients.

"Local authorities alongside those in the construction and engineering sectors are facing fresh challenges as we move towards net zero. Having leading talent such as Steven and Paul on board will ensure ACS is well placed to support and help us to deliver on our own mission to improve communities and society.”
