Dentons advises London borough on CPO for £200m regeneration scheme

Dentons has assisted the London Borough of Hounslow in securing confirmation of the compulsory purchase order (CPO) needed to deliver the £200m High Street Quarter redevelopment.

This mixed-use scheme in Hounslow's Town Centre will provide a new public square, 527 new homes and retail and leisure uses – including a new cinema – and a 27-storey tower in the town centre.

Construction is due to start in early 2017 with completion of the residential elements expected in summer 2020.

Brendon Walsh, Director of Regeneration, Economic Development and Environment at Hounslow, said: "We are delighted that the Secretary of State has accepted our case for site assembly to deliver the High Street Quarter project. This is a crucial scheme for the council and for the future of the town centre. We have worked hard in partnership with Barratt London and Wilson Bowden Developments to realise the opportunity for a step-change in vibrancy and overall environmental quality.

"Dentons' advice helped us put the case for the CPO on the best footing and they worked seamlessly with the team to overcome legal challenges and other obstacles to get this right."

The Dentons team advising on the CPO included partner Roy Pinnock and associate Lucy McDonnell.

Pinnock said: "This is an exciting regeneration scheme that will see the heart of Hounslow transformed to deliver commercial floor space, as well as retail and leisure space and much-needed affordable housing.  We are very pleased to have assisted the Council in securing the CPO that will make this vision a reality."
