Nick specialises in the commercial aspects of infrastructure and other projects including procurement, contracting and funding (such as PPPs and PFIs), and particularly in the fields of education, health, transport and waste.  He acts for public sector bodies, consortia, funders and service providers.

Highlights of closed projects include the £220m Leeds Oncology PFI Project for Catalyst Healthcare (2004) the first project to close under the Government’s Credit Guarantee Finance scheme,  the procurement of the Merseyrail Electrics local concession (franchise) for Merseytravel (2004), the £335m bond financed Peterborough Hospitals PFI project, the largest PFI project to close in 2007 and the £178m Phase 1 of the Leeds Building Schools for the Future project (2007).  Nick is acknowledged leader in the field of project finance in Chambers and Legal 500.

Nick speaks and writes regularly on PFI matters and is editor of the PFI Process chapter of Butterworths PFI Manual and the author of the PLC practice notes on PFI and PFI Documentation.  He is UK country correspondent of the European Public Private Partnerships Law Review.  He also edits part of the transport chapter of Butterworths Competition Law Encyclopaedia.
