Largest social landlord in the country appoints ex-law firm partner to housing association board

The UK's largest housing association, Clarion, has appointed a former partner at law firm Winckworth Sherwood to its Housing Association Board.

Andrew Murray has more than 25 years’ experience in advising on major housing projects, with particular expertise in regeneration, in mergers and in establishing new organisations.

He was lead partner for Genesis on the Woodberry Down regeneration project in Hackney, involving more than 1,000 new homes. He also acted for a joint venture between a national house-builder and multi-national contractor on a major scheme delivering a new college and 360 new homes.

Clarion owns and manages 125,000 homes.

David Orr, Chair of Clarion’s Housing Association Board, said: “I am delighted to welcome Andrew to the Board, his appointment will really strengthen the diverse range of expertise we have currently and his extensive experience working with our sector will be invaluable.”

Murray said: “Having worked together with the legacy organisations at Clarion’s inception to form the largest provider in the country, it is a pleasure to now serve on the Board. Since 2016, the organisation has continued to use its scale and expertise to improve the lives of its residents and deliver an increasingly significant social impact.”
