Nellie Supports is a private social work practice that specialises in mental capacity assessments and social care services across health, welfare, property, and financial matters. We work extensively with  legal professionals, local authorities, NHS bodies, financial advisors and families across the UK to deliver robust, court-compliant assessments for:

• Mental capacity (including COP3 assessments, testamentary capacity, and litigation capacity reports),
• Life Expectancy Reports (in cases of statutory wills, personal injury claims or estate planning strategy)
• Social Care assessments and reviews (including social care needs assessments, care plans and brokerage)
• EHCP Appeals (for children with SEN needs)
• Expert witness testimony in Court of Protection and family proceedings.

Our team is led by qualified mental capacity assessors including social workers, forensic anthropologists and psychologists, experienced in complex capacity matters, safeguarding, and cross-sector collaboration. We apply the updated 2024 Functional-First Model, which ensures that all assessments rigorously evaluate an individual’s ability to:

• Understand relevant information,
• Retain that information long enough to make a decision,
• Use or weigh the information,
• Communicate a decision clearly.

This model aligns with the revised MCA framework and avoids reliance on outdated diagnostic-first approaches, making our assessments more precise and defensible in court.
