Academy school takes legal action to evict travellers from grounds

A school in Coventry has started legal proceedings to evict a group of travellers from its playing fields ahead of the start of the new term.
In a statement on its website Ash Green School said it hoped to evict the travellers “as soon as possible”.
According to a report in the Coventry Telegraph, around 30 caravans are parked on the fields.
A spokesman for Warwickshire County Council told the paper that it could not taken action as Ash Green was an academy school and leased the land from the local authority.
