The GEO said: “Those employers who understand the business and service benefits of a diverse and engaged workforce will recognise the need to respond to the differing needs of all their staff. They will understand the importance of affording everyone dignity and of making people feel included.

“This guidance, produced in partnership with Inclusive Employers, is designed to provide employers with practical advice, suggestions and ideas on the recruitment and retention of transgender employees and potential employees. It is also a useful guide for the managers of trans staff and for trans staff themselves. It also aims to help employers comply with the law.”

The GEO has also published good practice guidance on providing services that are inclusive of transgender people as customers, clients, users or members.
