Housing Associations Legal Alliance names 11 law firms to new panel

The Housing Associations Legal Alliance (HALA) has named 11 law firms across three lots on its revised solicitors panel.

HALA has expanded from four members at its launch in 2010 to nine. They include Advance, Hexagon, Network Housing Group, Octavia Housing and Viridian Housing.

The three lots on the new panel – which will run until August 2017 with an option to extend for a further 12 months – were: Corporate Finance and Governance, Housing and Asset Management and Property and Development.

The successful firms were:

  • Bevan Brittan;
  • BLM;
  • Capsticks;
  • Clarke Willmott;
  • Devonshires;
  • Forbes;
  • Lewis Silkin;
  • Penningtons Manches;
  • Prince Evans;
  • TLT; and
  • Tozers.

HALA members’ annual legal spend is more than £2m.

Katrina Robinson, Head of Legal at Viridian, said: “HALA goes from strength to strength and after this robust process I am delighted that we now have such a strong panel in place which all members can access.”

Tim Morel of Kennedy Cater, which managed the procurement exercise, said: “Since its inception 4 years ago HALA has offered a fine example of how a successful collaboration can bring worthy rewards. Cost savings, supportive partnerships with law firms, and the sharing of ideas within the social housing sector have proved this point for HALA and I am sure that the new panel will only build on this success.”
