Leading social housing law QC becomes circuit judge
- Details
One of the leading social housing law QCs, Jan Luba of Garden Court Chambers, has been appointed as a circuit judge.
Luba was called to the bar in 1980, took silk in 2000 and was appointed as a recorder in 2000. He will be known as His Honour Judge Luba QC.
The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Central London and Mayor’s & City of London County Courts with effect from 21 December 2015.
In a statement Garden Court Chambers said: "Most recently, Jan has sought to establish the importance of housing as a ‘human right’ particularly for the most disadvantaged and poorly housed. He has often been at the cutting edge of housing law developments and is widely considered to be a leading housing silk.
“Jan will be greatly missed by all at Garden Court. We wish him the very best for the future.”
