North East council chooses four law firms for claims-handling advice

A city council in the North East has named four law firms to provide legal services and advice on handling claims.
Sunderland City Council appointed the firms to four lots:
- Lot No: 1 – public liability highways claims: Kennedys (first ranked); DWF (second ranked); Forbes Solicitors (third ranked);
- Lot No: 2 – employers liability accident claims: Kennedys (first ranked); Forbes Solicitors (second ranked); DWF (third ranked);
- Lot No: 3 – employers liability disease claims: Kennedys (first ranked); DWF (second ranked); Parabis Law (third ranked);
- Lot No: 4 – other work not included in public liability – highways, employers liability accident and disease: Kennedys (first ranked); Parabis Law (second ranked); DWF (third ranked).
The award criteria were stated to be the most economically advantageous tender in terms of quality (weighting 60) and price (weighting 40).
Sunderland will not be purchasing on behalf of other contracting authorities.
