Blackstone Chambers elects Weisselberg and Mulcahy as new joint heads

Tom Weisselberg KC and Jane Mulcahy KC have been elected as the new joint heads of top-ranked public law set Blackstone Chambers for a five-year term, commencing on 17 October 2022.

Weisselberg and Mulcahy previously led, respectively, Blackstone's commercial and employment groups and are longstanding members of the set’s management committee.

Weisselberg’s practice spans commercial litigation, civil fraud, media and entertainment and public law.

Mulcahy specialises in both employment and sports litigation and deals with complex and difficult cases concerning employee competition, whistleblowing and discrimination.

They replace outgoing heads Monica Carss-Frisk KC and Tony Peto KC, who led Blackstone Chambers for 10 years from January 2012. Both will continue in full-time practice.

During their tenure Blackstone Chambers grew from 87 tenants, including 37 silks, to 121 tenants today, comprising 59 King’s Counsel and 62 junior barristers.

In a joint statement, Weisselberg and Mulcahy said: “We want to thank Monica and Tony for their incredible leadership over the last 10 years. We are excited to be taking on the roles now, in a fantastic new building and surrounded by such a great team of staff and colleagues. We will work hard to continue Chambers’ success, focusing on developing the very best advocates in a friendly and open environment where both they and their practices can thrive.”
