Nursing and Midwifery Council to set up legal advisory panel worth up to £3m

The Nursing and Midwifery Council has kicked off the procurement of a legal advisory panel worth between up to £3m over a five-year period.

The independent regulator of nurses and midwives in the UK, the NMC said it wanted to appoint providers of legal services for one or more of the following lots (bidders can apply for both):

  • Lot 1 — Regulatory legal services: corporate governance; legislative changes; regulatory functions; ad hoc litigation servcies;
  • Lot 2 — General legal services:property and estates; employment and pensions; corporate finance and commercial; information governance; and litigation.

The council said it intended through the procurement process to enter into contracts with up to two firms per lot.

It added that it would not commit to exclusive use of the resulting panel, but anticipated that the panel would be used for the majority of its external legal services requirements.
