Major housing association chooses four sets of chambers for barristers framework

One of the largest housing associations in London and the South East, the Hyde Group, has appointed four sets of chambers to a four-year, multi-million pound barristers framework.

The successful chambers were:

  1. Cornerstone Barristers;
  2. Field Court Chambers;
  3. Five Paper Chambers;
  4. Arden Chambers.

They will be expected to undertake advocacy in Court and Tribunal action arising from:

  • Housing Management related services including but not limited to tenancy agreement advice including general needs, supported tenancies/ licences and other tenures including leasehold. Advice on policies (tenancy, lettings, repairs etc.,). Supported Housing matters; advice on a range of legal issues arising from agency managed schemes; ombudsman complaints.
  • Home Ownership and Asset Management including Leasehold possession/forfeiture and enforcement proceedings; service charge dispute resolution including tribunal representation, debt recovery and management and service charge queries, injunctions for lease breaches; tribunal and court representation re breach of lease.

Hyde, which has around 50,000 homes under management, also recently unveiled plans to appoint law firms to a four-year, multi-million pound legal services framework agreement.

The framework will be made available to social housing providers (SHP) in the UK both those that are in existence now and those that may come into existence during the term of the framework. This includes registered providers, local authorities and ALMOs.
