Fourteen law firms selected for £6m framework agreement for LGPS legal services

Fourteen law firms have been appointed to a £6m legal services framework contract aimed at supporting the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).

Norfolk County Council worked jointly with the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, City of Edinburgh, City of Wolverhampton Council, LGPS Central, Local Pensions Partnership Investments, London Borough of Lambeth, London Pensions Fund Authority, Northern Ireland Local Government Officers' Superannuation Committee, and Staffordshire County Council to procure the agreement.

The contract was split into the following seven lots:

  • Lot 1: Full Service (England and Wales)
  • Lot 2: Full Service (Scotland)
  • Lot 3: Full Service (Northern Ireland)
  • Lot 4: Investment (UK Wide)
  • Lot 5: Benefit Administration, Employer Bodies and Governance (England and Wales)
  • Lot 6: Benefit Administration, Employer Bodies and Governance (Scotland)
  • Lot 7: Benefit Administration, Employer Bodies and Governance (Northern Ireland)

The successful firms were:

  • Cleveland & Co Associates (Lot: 4)
  • Eversheds (Lots: 1, 5)
  • Eversheds Sutherland (International) (Lots: 2, 3, 4, 6, 7)
  • Freeths (Lots: 1, 5)
  • Gowling WLG (Lot: 4)
  • Osborne Clarke (Lots: 1, 4, 5)
  • Pinsent Masons (Lots: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)
  • Squire Patton Boggs (Lots: 1, 4, 5)

The tender notice published in the Autumn of last year said the framework agreement was due to run for 48 months.

The framework was last awarded in 2019, with an estimated worth of £11.75m.
