North East social landlord Karbon Homes is to hold preliminary market engagement on renewal of its legal services framework, which it has opened out to other housing associations.

Karbon Homes said it intends the replacement framework to “ensure continuity of service while taking the opportunity to enhance its scope and value”.

It added that opening up the framework to other housing associations would enable "broader collaboration and shared benefits across participating organisations”.

Gentoo Group and Beyond Housing are also named as contracting authorities.

Karbon Homes has close to 30,000 homes across the North East and Yorkshire. Gentoo provides homes for more than 60,000 people in Sunderland, while Beyond Housing provides 15,000 homes in the Tees Valley and North Yorkshire.

Karbon Homes said it is working towards a planned tender release of March 2026. It plans to carry out a pre market engagement exercise “to define our requirements, increase our understanding of the market, and to reflect our commitment to transparency, collaboration, and delivering best value for all stakeholders involved”.

The framework is expected to run from 4 July 2026 to 3 July 2028 with a possible extension to 3 July 2030.

In July 2022 Karbon Homes and Gentoo Group named ten firms to a framework estimated to be worth £5.8m.
