DAC Beachcroft advises university on £10m fit out works contract for new London campus
- Details
The Construction and Engineering team at law firm DAC Beachcroft has advised the University of Sunderland on a £10m fit out works contract for a new London campus at Harbour Exchange in Canary Wharf.
The university opened its first London campus in 2012 and has now enrolled over 20,000 students in the city.
The expansion, which is part of a programme to transform the university's Sunderland and London campuses, includes nearly 100,000 sq ft of new floor space, increasing the existing campus by 65%.
The DACB team advised the university on the fit out works contract and associated appointments and warranties.
The team also worked in collaboration with the university's property lawyers in relation to the construction aspects of the agreement for lease with the landlords.
The fit out works completed earlier this year and the new space is already in use.
DACB partner James Harrison, who leads the firm's REG construction and engineering team, said: "We are delighted to have been involved in this important project for the University. It is fantastic to work with a client who has such a strong vision for widening participation in higher education."
Stephen Feasey, Strategic Contracts and Procurement Manager at the University of Sunderland, said: "The DAC Beachcroft team is proactive, responsive and pragmatic in its approach and we are very grateful for the support provided on this project."
