Law Commission names Special Counsel for Wales
- Details
The Law Commission has appointed Dr Nerys Llewelyn Jones as Special Counsel for Wales, a role created to bolster its long-term commitment to law reform in Wales.
The role, which is part-time and for one year, is “designed to help shape the Commission’s work in Wales, providing senior leadership and strategic advice on the selection, development and management of law reform projects in Wales”.
The government's law reform advisory body said it is also looking to build on its relationships with key partners in Wales, including the Welsh Government, the Senedd, the legal profession and the third sector.
Dr Llewelyn Jones, the founder of niche law firm Agri Advisor and a specialist agricultural and environmental lawyer, will work closely with the Law Commissioner for Wales, Professor Alison Young.
“The Commission is confident that her high standing within the legal community in Wales, senior experience from previous roles, and strong track record of public engagement in Wales will help build a lasting foundation for high-quality law reform that meets the needs of the people of Wales.”
