Christina Blacklaws has been elected deputy vice president of the Law Society, meaning she is set to become president in 2018/19.
Currently director of client services – and soon to be chief operating officer – for Cripps LLP, Blacklaws will take up the DVP role in July this year when Robert Bourns becomes president and Joe Egan takes over as vice president.
She qualified as a solicitor in 1991, practising as a family lawyer. She has run a number of law firms, and has also been director of policy at Co-op Legal Services
A member of the Law Society Council since 2002, Blacklaws’ other representative roles include being an executive member of the Family Justice Council.
Blacklaws said: “I am honoured, delighted and humbled to be elected. These are challenging times. I look forward to engaging with the Law Society’s diverse members and to working with Robert and Joe to ensure the organisation is a relevant and effective representative body in a changing professional landscape.”
