Kingston names McCann as Assistant Director of Law and Governance, Monitoring Officer

Kingston Council has appointed Lauren McCann as Assistant Director of Law and Governance from the end of September this year.

Lauren McCann KingstonMcCann joins from Kent County Council where she has been the Head of Legal and Deputy Monitoring Officer for more than three years.

Prior to that she held a number of different roles including being the Senior Legal Advisor for child sexual exploitation and asylum seeking children as well as being the Deputy Monitoring Officer for the Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

McCann will take on the role as Kingston’s Monitoring Officer. Her other responsibilities include corporate governance, legal, audit, anti-fraud, the mayoral office, democratic support, and electoral services.

A qualified solicitor, she has 12 years' legal experience and a proven track record in providing strategic advice on all areas of the law relating to local government, Kingston said.

Commenting on her appointment McCann said: “I am very excited to be joining Kingston Council. The borough has lots to offer and there are some exciting changes taking place which I am looking forward to being a part of.”
