Law firm Capsticks has appointed public sector pensions specialist Neil Bhan as a partner.

Previously Head of Pensions at DAC Beachcroft, Bhan has more than 20 years’ experience of advising employers, trustees and public sector bodies – including central government departments and local authorities – on all areas of pensions law.

Capsticks said he has particular expertise in advising on public sector pension schemes, including the NHS Pensions Scheme and the Local Government Pension Scheme, “and will assist many of Capsticks’ clients with handling the allocation of pensions risk and the pension aspects of outsourcings, corporate transactions, mergers, and TUPE transfers”.

He is also an expert on pension disputes, and discrimination issues.

The firm said Bhan helps employers to operate pension schemes more effectively, dealing with scheme governance, risk management issues, and advising on funding issues, including strategies to reduce pension scheme underfunding.

Victoria Watson, Head of Employment, said: “As we offer our clients a full service across employment law, Neil will be a real asset in advising on all types of pension issues. From his extensive experience, he knows the challenges that both public and private sector organisations face and will make sure our clients and their employees are protected from risk and can run their schemes as efficiently as possible.”
