Arrival of Origin brings Housing Associations Legal Alliance to 12 members

Origin Housing has become the latest housing association to join HALA (the Housing Associations Legal Alliance), bringing the total number of members to 12.

Origin has more than 6,000 homes and customers in London and Hertfordshire. Its decision to join HALA comes shortly after Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association became the alliance’s 11th member.

Kevin Muhammad, Procurement Manager at Origin, said: “HALA is a well managed consortium that has a proven track record in delivering high quality legal support alongside cost savings to its members. We are pleased to be part of this ambitious alliance.”

Membership of HALA is open to providers of social housing in England and Wales.

Consultancy Kennedy Cater manages the cost and quality of the legal services provided to members.

Its Client Services Director, Helen Edwards, said: “In addition to reduced legal fees, HALA offers its members a training programme that is second to none. Annually designed around their stated needs, it is expertly fulfilled by the panel firms. In addition bespoke training is also available at no extra charge, which would costs thousands of pounds if bought alone.”
