FTB bolstered by arrival of planning specialist Emyr Jones

Francis Taylor Building has been bolstered with the arrival of Emyr Jones as a tenant with immediate effect.

Jones was called to the Bar in 1999 and has practised in Cardiff until joining FTB. Before coming to the Bar he gained a first in PPE at Jesus College, Oxford and was a lecturer at Keble College whilst undertaking research in political philosophy.

He specialises in planning, infrastructure, environment, local government, compulsory purchase and compensation, public law and property and chancery litigation.

Jones appears on behalf of private and public bodies in public inquiries, statutory inquiries, the courts and specialist tribunals. He also sits as an Inspector for Commons Registration Authorities.

Recent examples of his work include new road schemes and the compulsory purchase of required land, DCO hearings, planning and planning enforcement inquiries, private law nuisance claims, public rights of way and town and village green inquiries.

Appointed to the Welsh Government's panel in 2013, he has a thorough knowledge of Welsh planning law and policy and the laws of England and Wales in general, FTB said.  He is the current editor of the Wales section of the Green Book.

He is also a fluent Welsh speaker who is happy to undertake advocacy in the courts and at inquiries in the Welsh language.
