Spending watchdog launches study of capital expenditure by councils
- Details
The National Audit Office is to carry out a study on capital expenditure by local authorities and the ways in which it is financed.
The NAO study comes as councils have – since 2010/11 – seen reductions in capital funding from central government, in addition to reductions in revenue funding.
“The study will set out a picture of recent funding changes, the ways that councils have responded to these, and the implications for financial and service sustainability,” the spending watchdog said.
A report is scheduled for the summer of 2016.
More details on the project can be viewed here.
