Managing Waste Services Through Local Government Reorganisation
Watch our webinar with procurement experts at Eunomia, where we dive deep into Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) and its impact on the delivery of waste services.
Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) proposes replacing England’s two-tier council system, where county and district councils share responsibilities, with single-tier unitary authorities.
Timelines for implementation vary between areas, with some authorities already set on reorganisation arrangements while other authorities are still going through public consultation before a formal decision is made on reorganisation arrangements. Most new unitary councils are expected to be in place by 2028. From that date, all council services including waste services will be provided by the new unitary councils.
- What Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) is and what it could mean for your council
- What the key LGR considerations are when planning future waste service delivery, including procurement, in‑house models and LATCos
- What considerations are critical to planning and delivering a robust waste services procurement in the context of LGR
- What the practical LGR considerations are for managing a live waste contract
