Acting chief exec swaps councils to take Assistant Director of Legal Services role

Rochdale Borough Council’s acting chief executive is to take up the post of Assistant Director of Legal Services at Wigan Council.

Linda Fisher has worked for Rochdale for five years. She joined the authority as Head of Legal Services, then subsequently became Director of Corporate Services and Deputy Chief Executive.

She took on the role of acting chief executive when Jim Taylor departed in April this year. She is expected to stay at Rochdale until a new chief executive is appointed later this year.

Cllr Richard Farnell, Rochdale’s Leader, said: “Linda is a committed officer and she has led the council through some difficult times.

“She has delivered some important projects, most lately a huge budget to make major savings which through her skill we are hoping to do with minimal impact on the public.”

He added: “She will be a loss to the council and we are sad to see her go but wish her well in the future and are delighted she will continue to play a role within Greater Manchester.”

Fisher said: “I have enjoyed working at Rochdale Borough Council over the last five years. I have worked with and met some incredible people and led some exciting and high profile projects.

“I have taken up an opportunity to work as the Assistant Director of Legal Services in one of the largest and best performing authorities in the country, in my home town.

“I am very proud of my achievements in Rochdale and my work with the Armed Services which will carry on and look forward to continuing to work in and contribute to the success of Greater Manchester.”
