Borough council in Essex appoints solicitor as chief executive

Angela Hutchings, a qualified solicitor, has been appointed Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service for Castle Point Borough Council.

She is currently the Strategic Director and Deputy Chief Executive for Rochford District Council and Brentwood Borough Council and has extensive experience in local government, private sector and leadership experience.

Her previous roles include five years as Assistant County Solicitor – Place at Essex County Council from 2012 to 2017.

Hutchings said: “It’s a privilege to be asked to lead Castle Point Borough Council as we enter a period of significant change. I look forward to working with members, staff and residents to shape the future of Castle Point and to continue to improve outcomes for communities and businesses.” 

She is expected to take up her new post as Chief Executive later in the Summer.
