- Details
The number of care applications received in May was – at 972 – the highest ever recorded for a single month, the latest figures released by Cafcass have revealed.
The organisation also said it had received a total of 1,727 applications between April 2012 and May 2012.
This is some 14.1% higher than the same period in 2011. The figure for April, 755, was also a record for that month.
Cafcass announced earlier this year that it received 10,225 care applications between April 2011 and March 2012.
This compares to 9,205 for 2010/11 and just 6,488 in 2008/09.
