Cafcass sees significant fall in number of public law cases received

The number of public law cases received by Cafcass in April this year fell by 8.8%, it has emerged.
Cafcass reported that it had received 1,374 new public law cases in April 2020 featuring 2,224 children.
This represented a decrease of -8.8% (-132 public law cases) and a decrease of -9.8% (242 children) on the 1,506 new public law cases received and the 2,466 children on those cases in April 2019.
Cafcass has this week issued a new protocol of attendance of staff at court during the COVID-19 recovery.
