The provision of private services through mobile phone apps has brought some undeniable benefits to society, including convenience and cheap travel. At the same time, many are concerned about cross-border hiring, congestion, standards, rider safety and unfair competition to local businesses. Legal attempts to regulate the industry have tended to fail in court.

In the latest of his renowned Masterclass series, Philip Kolvin QC will provide practical solutions for the regulation of the modern private hire industry. Proceeding from an analysis of taxi and local government statutes and case law, he will demonstrate for the first time that local authorities have all the tools they need to bring the private hire industry under more effective control.

Philip will also consider the impact of the Wakefield fees litigation and the state of play regarding statutory standards and national guidance.

This Masterclass is exclusively for public sector bodies, with pricing set accordingly.

You will have access to the seminar material as many times as you like on or after that date so that it will be a permanent resource for you.

There is also an opportunity to submit questions in advance to Philip who will do his best to answer when recording the masterclass.

Please submit your questions no later than 3rd April by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
