As the UK Government moves tentatively towards relaxing some of the restrictions put in place to fight the ravages of the pandemic Kings Chambers offer the opportunity to join Gary Grant and Piers Riley-Smith at a morning webinar on the 14th May 2020  which takes a broad view of how town and country planning law and policy presently serves and may need to adjust to the “new normal” of confinement within homes, limited access to spaces, social distancing, the expansion of home working and travel limitations. Gary and Piers will look at some areas of existing law and policy and the pressure points for change arising from the pandemic.

Gary Grant is ranked as Leading Junior (Band 1) in Legal 500 (2020) for planning at the regional bar in which he is described as a “calm, considered and skilled advocate” and Band 2 in Chambers and Partners(2020) in which he is described as “Really skilled, very calm and considered, really responsive and flexible”. Gary has a broad advisory practice in planning and environmental law. His practice covers appeals, inquiries, plan making and judicial review in respect of a wide range of land uses and infrastructure.

Piers Riley-Smith regularly appears in the High Court and at planning appeals for developers and local authorities. Piers has a broad practice in planning, licensing and local government law. He specialises in highways law, and in assisting local authorities with Compulsory Purchase Orders.
