This interactive workshop examines Part 2 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) in detail. Our surveillance law expert will discuss the definitions of Directed Surveillance, Intrusive Surveillance and Covert Human Intelligence Sources and how they apply to public authority surveillance particularly when monitoring social media activity. Other important topics to be covered include RIPA roles, safeguards for surveillance material and preparing for IPCO inspections. By working through real life case studies, delegates will be able to check and update their understanding and application of RIPA in the light of the latest IPCO guidance and legal cases. This workshop is essential for investigating officers as well as managers overseeing surveillance.
