Data Protection practitioners need to have a good understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018 which supplements the UK GDPR.

The DPA 2018 introduces exemptions to the normal GDPR rules as well as additional obligations when processing Special Category Data and criminal records data. It also implements, under Part 3, the Law Enforcement Directive which regulates the processing of personal data about criminal investigations and prosecutions. Part 3 applies to law enforcement agencies as well as those with investigation and prosecution powers.

This interactive workshop will discuss the main provisions of the DPA 2018 as well as the impact of Brexit. Alongside the tutor’s expert knowledge, the case studies and exercises will enhance your knowledge of the UK data protection regime.

This is an intermediate course. You should have a working knowledge of the UK GDPR.
