Description

Ahead of the implementation of the Renting Homes (Wales) Act on 15 July 2022 Civitas Law is offering an overview of the important changes. We are offering a specialist seminar for local authorities on 29 March 2022 to provide an overview of the key changes and how they may impact you.

The seminar is aimed at solicitors and officers who may come across Renting Homes (Wales) related issues. The emphasis will be on practical issues, relevant considerations and policy implications outside of managing housing stock. Renting Homes (Wales) Act may have implications for social care, homelessness, asylum support, and domestic violence. This seminar is aimed at those who have not retained their own housing stock or those individuals not directly involved with managing such stock but may, nonetheless, come across the changes brought about by the Act.

There is a separate seminar series for those who hold their own stock on 5 April 2022. You are of course more than welcome to attend both. We also have a mock trial on 6 April 2022 where you will be able to experience a contested committal trial.

Civitas Law is Wales’ only specialist civil and public law chambers. Chambers is also offering tailored training packages (together with advice and drafting services), do not hesitate to contact the clerks or our members directly to discuss the tailored approach that you require.

Chambers is ideally placed to advise on these significant changes to housing law in Wales. Lucy King and Owain Rhys James are both instructed by the Welsh Ministers to advise on consequential amendments required in the light of the Act and have an in-depth knowledge of its provisions and application. Cathrine Grubb is on the Lexis Nexis panel of experts for Wales and provides updates on the Renting Homes (Wales) Act.

Lucy and Owain are also currently (jointly) instructed by Registered Social Landlords to draft contracts and advise upon the Act. All of that work can be carried out bilingually (both in terms drafting documents and, importantly given the equal-standing of the Welsh and English language versions of the Act, in interpreting the legislation).
