As planners, purchasers, owners of building stock and service providers, local authorities have a crucial role to play in tackling the climate emergency, and many are already taking urgent action to ensure delivery of the national net zero carbon commitment by 2050. Decarbonisation must be an integral part of projects, service delivery and investment, so that local government can take a key role in driving sustainable development that meets the needs of the environment as well as those of local communities and businesses.

LLG's Energy and Environment Conference will provide delegates with a series of really practical sessions on areas where councils can deliver positive, transformative change at a local level. Sessions will look at how to weave green objectives into the business as usual for local authorities, delivering decentralised energy solutions, electric vehicle charging points and the challenges of retrofit, green energy procurement, and mitigating claims against authorities arising as a result of climate change.

The Conference will be of interest to heads of legal and other senior lawyers and officers; lawyers working across procurement, infrastructure, regeneration, planning, litigation and housing; and anyone working with partners and local communities on environmental and sustainability initiatives.
